Artiste berlinois, marqué par son passage dans la maison Martin Margiela, Roman Moriceau explore, détourne et transfigure nos rapports au monde consumériste. Son travail procède par basculement, par effet boomerang. Chaque pièce séduit au premier regard, puis après avoir passé du temps, la critique surgit. Fasciné par la force et déçu par la piètre qualité des images qui nous assaillent, Moriceau s’amuse avec. A la limite du design d’objet, du graphisme et de la peinture, le processus de fabrication a une très grande importance dans la conception des œuvres de l’artiste.
L’utilisation de mouches comme imprimante, l’impression sur Post-it - entre autres exemples montrent à quel point le choix du « bon » médium intensifie la justesse du propos.
Sa dernière série "Flowers" accentue cette direction. Un ensemble de dessins de fleurs en voie d’extinction est sérigraphié à l’huile de vidange.

Roman Moriceau is a french artist based in Berlin. Influenced by his time working for Maison Martin Margiela he explores, twists and questions our relationship with consumerism and its effects on the individual. His work operates with a boomerang effect. The pieces seduce at first sight, and then their
criticality comes into play, forcing us through their detail to continually revise their meaning.
Moriceau is fascinated by the power and poor quality of the images that we are being constantly confronted with. On the border of design, graphic-design and painting the procedure of fabrication plays a big importance in the conception of his work.The use of flies as printer, printing on Post-it, - amongst others - shows how the choice of a “good” medium intensifies the accuracy of the subject.
His last series “Flowers“emphasizes that direction. A set of drawings of
endangered flowers is screen printed with engine oil.
